A young man identified as Emmanuel Effiong, has been arrested by the police for beheading a woman in an Aba car park, Abia state.

Emmanuel confessed to the act, claiming to have been instructed by a mad woman who ordered him to carry out the act or he would run mad.

He said, “I gave a mad woman money one day in Abia state, and she told me to look for a skull or human head and throw inside a river or I will go mad.”

“One morning, when I saw a lifeless body in front of the park,  I decided to cut off the dead woman’s head for the exercise. I threw the head into the the River to remain a normal person.”

According to the police in Abia state, a search for Effiong arose when they were informed about an unknown person threatening to kill one Mr Udogu if he fails to pay a ransom of N15million.

The police operatives swung into action and traced the suspect through the mobile number he used in sending the text message.

He was arrested and in the course of interrogations, confessed to have been behind the headless woman found on September 29, 2016.

The Commissioner of Police for Abia state, Mr Adeleye Oyabade, confirmed the arrest of the suspect.

He also said that three knives were recovered from the suspect adding that that further investigations will be followed to unravel the mystery behind the act.

Effiong, in a confessional statement, said that he demanded the ransom from Mr Udogu for refusing to pay him his salary since September 2009.

He said, “I served Mr Udogu for many years as his gateman, but he stopped paying my salary since September 2009, so I decided to send him the threat so as to recover my money.”
