Man bags 2 years imprisonment over attempt to steal cell phones worth N150,000

An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, on Monday sentenced a 23-year-old man, Femi Fayemi, to two years imprisonment for breaking into a church to steal cell phones valued at N150,000.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B. B. Adebowale, convicted Fayemi, of no fixed address, as he pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of stealing and burglary.

The prosecutor, Abdulkareem Mustapha, had told the court that the convict  committed the offences on Feb. 19 at about 3.30 a. m at Celestial Church of Christ, Joju, in Ota.

Mustapha said that the convict broke into the church to steal different cell phones, valued at N150, 000 belonging to members of the church.

The offences contravened Sections 415 and 516 of the Criminal Code Vol. 1, Laws of Ogun, 2006. (NAN)
