An Ilorin Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded a farmer, Matie Ali, for allegedly killing one Fensa Dogo after accusing him of dating his niece.
The accused, who was alleged to have killed Fensa with a machete, was arraigned on a one-count charge of culpable homicide.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Dasuki, ordered the remand of the accused at the Federal Medium Security Prison, Mandala, Ilorin, after he refused to take his plea.
Dasuki adjourned the case till Nov. 20 for further mention
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Zacheaus Folorunsho, told the court that the accused was arrested after the complainant and father of the deceased, David Dogo, on Oct. 21 reported the incident at the Police Post in Gwanara.
The complainant, according to the prosecutor, had alleged that the accused committed the crime after discovering that the victim was dating his niece, Elizabeth Sambani.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 221 of Penal Code Law and urged the court to remand the accused pending the outcome of further investigation.(NAN)
