An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday remanded a 27-year-old man, Sadiq Abdulwahab, in police custody over alleged attempted murder.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, was charged with attempted murder.
The plea of the defendant was not taken.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye, ordered the remand of the defendant in police custody pending the legal advice from office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Adegboye adjourned the case until April 22 for mention
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Johnson Okunade, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 10 in Ijesa- Isu, Ekiti.
Okunade alleged that the defendant attempted to murder one Adediran Taiwo.
“There was a fight between the defendant and the complainant, in the cause of the fight, the defendant mobilised some of his friends to join him in fighting the complainant.
“During the fight, the defendant and his accomplice cut one of the eyes of the complainant with cutlass which resulted to the complainant having serious injury,’’ he said.
The prosecutor said that the complainant was hospitalised and had surgery on the affected eye.
According to him, the offence contravened Section 320 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012. (NAN)
