An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Wednesday, docked one Tobi Adetunji, 24, over alleged theft of a Bajaj motorcycle.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug 4, 2019 at MSN Bus-Stop, Ita-Osa Area, Ile-Ife.
Abdullahi said that the defendant allegedly stole an unregistered Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with engine number: DUZWKB03227 and Chasis Number: MD2A18AY5KWB49568, valued N220, 000, property of one Eluwole Bukola.
He added that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace when both the guarantor and the owner were trying to engage in a scuffle in public place.
According to him, the offence contravened Sections 249(d) and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of stealing and breach of peace.
The Defense Counsel, Mr Sunday Olagbaju, applied for the bail of his client in most Liberal term, promising that his client would not jump bail, but would present reliable sureties.
Magistrate A. I. Oyebadejo, granted the defendant bail to the tune of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Oyebadejo added that the sureties must swear to affidavit of means and must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
He ordered that their addresses be verified by the prosecutor, one surety must be responsible citizen and gainfully employed.
She stated further that the second surety must produce three years tax clearance certificate as well as three recent passport photographs.
The case was adjourned until Sept. 7, for hearing.
