A 45-year-old man, Bolaji Ajasa, has been arraigned by the Ondo state police before a magistrate’s court in Okitipupa for attempting to touch the breast of a hawker, Ajoke Ibisanmi.
Ajasa, of no fixed address, is also facing a charge of unlawful assault before Magistrate Banji Ayeomoni.
Inspector Zedekiah Orogbemi, the prosecuting lawyer, stated that on February the 21st the accused assaulted the complainant by punching her at a construction site at new Ayeka in Okitipupa.
Orogbemi said that an argument ensued when the complainant refused an attempt by the defendant to touch one of her breasts and other parts of her body.
The prosecutor said the offence was punishable under Section 355 of the Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1 Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against him.
The magistrate granted the defendant bail in the sum of N30,000 and a surety in like sum.
The magistrate said the surety must provide evidence of a year tax clearance as part of the bail conditions.
The case was adjourned until March 29, 2018 for further hearing.
