All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has called on Independent National Electoral Commission to make all the votes count and give all the political parties a level playing ground in the coming elections.
APGA made this call in a statement signed by its National Director of Publicity, Iheanacho Oguejiofor, in Abuja.
The statement read “APGA urges all politicians and the political parties, as they mobilize Nigerians for their supports, woo the electorate for their votes and jostle to win elections for various elective positions at the forthcoming 2015 general elections, to make their campaigns explicit and issue-based, their debates factual and thought provoking and their criticism sincere and constructive, for an enduring democratic culture, so that the electorate will be able to make a well informed choice as they cast their votes.
“Also, the party implores the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC], to make all the votes count, to show zero tolerant to election rigging, to be strict to the rules guiding the electoral conducts and to give all the political Parties a level playing ground. So that the winners that will emerge after the 2015 general elections will be an absolute reflection of all the votes cast by the electorates, at the various polling booths across Nigeria, in order that the winners and the people elected will be a true representatives of the people who will serve the interest of Nigerians, rather than that of a few privilege individuals; the “godfathers”, if the elections are to be skewed in favour of some political Contractors, with narrow, selfish interests.
“Meanwhile, APGA cautions all Nigerians to guide against provocative utterances, unlawful acts and unpatriotic news reportage, capable of putting our corporate existence as a country into jeopardy, most especially as regards to the serious acts of terrorism which Nigeria is grappling with at present.”
