As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, MainOne Cable Company recently donated Information and Communication Technolgy (ICT) equipment to the Herbert Macaulay Girls Secondary School in Yaba, Lagos Mainland Local Government Area, Lagos.
The equipment donated included desktop personal computers, UPS Power backup and internet connectivity capacity which are expected to be housed in the school’s ICT Laboratory renovated by MainOne.
The company is also seeking to partner with Co-Creation Hub and Andela to organise software tutoring programmes for students of the school interested in pursuing careers in technology.
The initiative which was expected to expose students of the school to e-learning is part of the company’s CSR initiative focused on education and youth development.
In a statement at the commissioning of the ICT Lab, MainOne’s CEO Funke Opeke, represented by the Company Secretary and Legal Manager, Kasope Akindele, said: “Our initiative in schools is to drive the delivery of quality education. We are particularly delighted with this opportunity to promote technology to a female population.”
Established in 2008 to provide wholesale telecom-bandwidth services, MainOne has been at the forefront of donating needed technological equipment to schools across Nigeria.
