Okoi Obono-Obia, the President’s special assistant on prosecution, on Monday, October 24, said former chairman of Presidential Task Team on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina, was not found guilty of any offence.
In an interview with Channels Television, Okoi spoke on the reinstatement of Abdulrasheed Maina, he said he doesn’t see the reason for the uproar about Maina following his promotion to a higher position.
He said:
“If he has not been found guilty of any offence, I do not see why some people are outraged by his purported reabsorption into the federal civil service,”
“If the EFCC declares me wanted, that does not mean that I have been adjudged guilty. It is only a court of competent jurisdiction that can adjudge anybody guilty.”
Mr Okoi said the President had no hand in the reinstatement of Maina.
He said “The president has no hand in the discipline of public servants”.
According to “The Nation newspaper”, Maina’s reinstatement was facilitated by the attorney-general of the federation and justice minister, Abubakar Malami despite the alleged N2b scam.
