A 37-year old woman, Lilian Njoku, was arraigned for stealing property worth N5m belonging to one Mrs Yemi Urowayino
Njoku, who runs an organization called Skilled Nannies Ltd, which provides homes with nannies and housemaids, said she was not guilty.
She said she met Mrs Urowayino through one Funmi who linked them up. Urowayino always called her whenever she needed a housemaid.
“She had asked for a housemaid, and then requested for a replacement after two months, which I did. I gave her one Vivian Elo, a 24-year old woman, who after working for 2 days, we heard she had disappeared Urowayino’s property,” she said.
Urowayino, on her own part, said that she was at work when her gateman called her that there was an emergency. She had rushed home thinking it had to do with her kids.
“On getting home, I discovered that she hd not done any work, but had broken into my room and left with my laptop, iPad 2, Blackberry 9520, Blackberry Playbook, Sony camcorder, four wristwatches worth N120000 and a box of gold valued at about N5m”
Njoku pleaded with the court and said she would make effort to find Elo. She was granted bail of N500,000 and two sureties.
