Suspended Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has spent the second night in detention as security operatives ransack his home.
It would be recalled that Magu was arrested on Monday and grilled for over six hours over allegations of fraud by the President Panel sitting in the Presidential villa.
According to a source who spoke to The Cable, security operatives had arrived Magu’s residence in Karu area of Abuja to ransack his home for incriminating evidence that would corroborate the allegations levelled against him but so far, nothing was found.
This is coming after operatives of the anti-graft agency went to his official residence in Maitama to move out his personal belongings following the announcement of his suspension.
It would be noted that Abubakar Malami, Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) had recommended Magu’s sack to President Buhari over “weighty” allegations which include relooting recovered loot .
Meanwhile, a source at EFCC alleged the embattled anti-graft agency boss went to the Panel with documents that can exonerate him from the charges but the Panel was yet to question him about the allegations.
The Cable quoted the source saying, “He went to the panel with many documents. He has a lot of files on him to respond to the allegations. Surprisingly, the panel has not asked him any question on the issues raised against him,”
