Real Madrid has on Monday announced an injury to full back, Daniel Carvajal.
According to a club statement, the Spain international sustained the injury during the 1-1 draw with bitter city rivals, Athletico Madrid on Sunday.
Club doctors say the right back sustained “an injury to the peroneal tendons” in his right ankle.
Carvajal was substituted in the 41st minute of the game, after complaining of discomfort and was replaced by fellow Spaniard, Alvaro Arbeloa.
“I had an awkward foot movement, I was not comfortable and asked to be taken off. I will have tests tomorrow and we will assess the injuries, but I am feeling positive, and getting better all the time,” he said.
While the club did not say how long the injury will keep the 23-year-old out of action, Spanish newspaper AS reports that tendon injuries normally take 2-3 weeks to heal.
This may likely keep the defender out of Spain’s Euro 2016 qualifier games to hold this October, the first being a game against Luxembourg on October 9.
