Gamawa village in Talata Mafara local government area of Zamfara state was attacked by a group of unknown robbers who in the process hacked to death six Fulani herdsmen and four others sustaining various degrees of injuries.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state Command, DSP Sanusi Amiru, the attackers invaded the village for cattle rustling within daytime on Friday when they fought with offensive weapons in efforts to clear their way for escape during which they killed six and injured another four Fulani herdsmen.
“They fiercely fought against those that resisted their nasty aim, as a result of which they machete six to death and injured four”, Amiru report.
According to the Police authority, the bandits were chased by the Police team who arrived the village shortly after the attack, “Our men on crime prevention mission had pursued the attackers to recovered large number of the rustled cows and sheep which were already handed back to the owners”.
“When the attackers noticed that Police were on their chase, they abandoned the stolen cows and sheep in the forest under Maradun local government area to flee, but I am assuring you that, they will not escape as all possible routes for escape were cordoned off for their arrest and prosecution”, the PPRO stressed.
