Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the EFCC will soon begin to massively prosecute those listed in the two “looters’ lists” released by the Federal Government on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
TheCable, quoting an unnamed EFCC source, reports that the case files of the individuals named on the list were already being prepared for prosecution.
The presidency was said to have told the EFCC to “swing into action” over the list.
Recall that the two lists revealed by Information Minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed had contained mainly names of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members.
Some prominent members of the PDP on the list include Uche Secondus, chairman of the party; Stella Oduah, senator representing Anambra north; Jonah Jang, senator representing Plateau north senatorial district; and Peter Nwaboshi, senator representing Delta north.
While some of the individuals on the list are already facing prosecution, others were mainly interrogated
However, the PDP has accused the government of using the list as alibi to justify a clampdown on the opposition ahead of the 2019 general election.
Most of the individuals named on the list have also denied any wrongdoing.
