Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester City are both set to go head to head for the signature of highly rated Derby County midfield player, Will Hughes this summer, according to reports in the Daily Star.
The exciting England Under-21 international has been with the Rams for the past two years now, with the 18-year-old having made his debut for the Championship outfit in the second half of the 2011-12 campaign, in which Hughes made three league appearances for Derby.
However, in the previous season under Derby head coach Nigel Clough, the attacking midfield player was a regular for the team, appearing in 38 games in total in all competitions for the club, during which time Hughes managed to find the back of the net on two occasions, both of which came in the Championship.
And with the youngster having also caught the eye for the England Under-21s as well, who he has won three caps for, both Premier League sides are said to be weighing up making moves for Hughes before the summer transfer window slams shut for business for the year Sept 2.
But with a contract at Pride Park stadium that runs until June 30 2016, Derby are believed to be seeking a fee of £6 million for the Englishman.
