Former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher, has said that Manchester United’s reliance on Zlatan Ibrahimovic is “embarrassing”.
The 35-year-old has scored 27 goals for the Red Devils, since he joined the club as a free agent last summer. Only Juan Mata has also hit double figures in Jose Mourinho’s squad.
Ibrahimovic was missing last weekend, as United drew for the 11th time in the Premier League this term, against West Brom. After the game, Mourinho criticized his attackers for their inconsistency.
“Zlatan has that personality and presence but I feel it’s a bit embarrassing for those other players that they need a 35-year-old centre-forward,” Carragher told Sky Sports .
“It’s a big worry, the fact these young players go in there and can’t seem to cope, it doesn’t bode well for them and I think that’s Mourinho’s frustration.
“When you play at the top level, if you get a chance you must take it.”
