Brendan Rodgers has confirmed the club are in talks with Daniel Sturridge over a new deal.
It was reported on Wednesday that the England striker was on the verge of a new five-year deal with a weekly salary of £150,000.
The deal will make Sturridge one of the top earners in the club, Rodgers didn’t disclose any details but confirmed negotiations are taking place.
He said: “Talks with Daniel’s representatives are ongoing but there are no updates at the moment.”
The manager also refused to rule Sturridge out of Liverpool’s game against West brom this weekend, despite being left out of the England squad.
Asked if he could feature at Anfield on Saturday, Rodgers replied: “We will have to wait and see.
“Me and Roy [Hodgson] spoke at length yesterday and it was amicable. I respect he has work to do but my thoughts are with the Liverpool players.”
