Lionel Messi’s pay grade was revealed by Football leaks and it is no small figure. The Argentinian baller’s contract makes him worth $2.4million-a-week.
This is more than double Cristiano Ronaldo’s $960,000. Messi signed the deluxe deal that ties him to the Nou Camp until 2021 last year November.
Details of the contract have finally come out and it shows that Messi makes $123m a year which is a lot higher than the next nearest player, Ronaldo.
Messi makes $86million in wages, while the remaining $37m comes from endorsements. The deal also makes him eligible to an $85m bonus if he stays on with the team for the duration of the deal. The only player now that makes more than Messi is Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior commonly known as Neymar jr.
The release clause in Messi’s deal stands at $854m, with only Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema having larger buy-outs in their contracts. Messi has scored 25 goals in 31 games for club and country this season.
