Steven Gerrard has admitted he resisted temptation to join Spanish side Real Madrid.
The 34-year-old midfielder disclosed that being linked to Madrid is “very flattering”.
Real Madrid reportedly made several attempts to bring in the Liverpool star but he choose to spend his entire career at Anfield.
” I have had options through my career to go to Real Madrid but I resisted the temptation to stay with my home town club,” said Gerrard.
Steven Gerrard started his football career with Liverpool’s youth team in 1987 at the age of 7.
He advanced to the senior team 11 years later and have remained with the club ever since.
“I may regret at the end of my career not going to a different scenery but would have had bigger regret leaving Liverpool. Real Madrid are a special club but Liverpool is my No 1 club,” Gerrard said.
