2 Min Read

To register their displeasure with the high rate of insecurity and poverty in the nation, popular lawyer, Femi Falana SAN and his son, Folarin Falana aka Falz on Monday stormed the streets of Lagos in protest.

The placard-carrying duo was joined by other protesters in the march on the state capital, Ikeja.

The protesters acting under the aegis of Peoples Alternative Political Movement, marched from Ikeja Bus-Stop to the Governor’s Office and State Assembly complex.

Some of the placards carried inscriptions such as: ‘Secure Nigeria’, ‘End Kidnapping and Banditry’, ‘No to Exploitation and Multiple Taxation’, ‘Provide Jobs or Unemployment Benefits for Youths’, ‘Provide Security in Schools’, and ‘Stop Killings’.

Leader of the march titled, ‘Enough is Enough‘, Jaye Gaskiya said that the protesters which included trade unions, civil society, students, farmers and peasants came together to collectively express their frustrations with the current situation of the country.

He said that the nation was heading in a worrying direction if extreme poverty, arms proliferation, religious intolerance, ethnic nationalism and other issues were not immediately and holistically addressed.

Gaskiya blamed a clueless leadership for leading the nation to the brink of collapse with its uncontrolled greed and avarice.
