The Malammadori Local Government Council of Jigawa on Wednesday said it had rehabilitated 20 hand pumps in Malammadori and Garingabas communities to enhance water supply in the area.
Alhaji Ali Alkali, the Care Taker Committee Chairman of the council, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the projects were executed in the past four weeks.
Alkali said that the council had also repaired an obsolete motorised borehole at Dunari ward and provided battery for the solar panel at Maibeguwa community.
He said the council had resolved to utilise money sourced from Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to repair hand pumps and other water works in the area.
“The council resolved to spend all money generated locally on water projects.
“Hand pumps and water scheme in Malammadori town are in good condition and operational. We will ensure supply of safe drinking water to the people,” he said.
The chairman called on the people to protect water projects and other facilities provided in their communities by government. (NAN)
