Former Head of State, Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar has admonished Nigerians to give President Goodluck Jonathan benefit of doubt concerning his promise that the coming elections would hold as re-scheduled.
Abubakar who made this statement while fielding questions from journalists in Kano said “As our President, let us give him benefit of doubt and accept what he said.”
He also urged Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct free and fair elections, he said “I do hope INEC officials will conduct free, fair and credible elections in the country.”
Meanwhile Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo has said that the federal government has spent N34 billion on higher institutions in Kano State.
According to a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Umar Sani, Sambo made this statement during an interactive session with members of the Bayero University Kano.
He said “within a period 2010 to 2014 the total amount expended by Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND for both infrastructural and academic training in Kano State tertiary institutions is N34.109 billion, out of the total of N644 billion invested by TETFUND across the country within the period.”
Sambo added that the intervention affected both federal and state government owned institutions in the state.
