Leicester Can Win EPL Title, So Can Manchester City – Fernandinho

3 Min Read

Manchester City midfileder, Fernandinho has said it would not be out of place to say Leicester City are more than qualified to win the current English Premier League title.

However, he said The Citizens can give the current league leaders a run for their money and push them all the way to the end, if they can learn to be consistent.

He said: “The team is one of the best in the league. We have a great squad with great players but we have to prove that on the pitch.

“Unfortunately, we haven’t done that up to now. I hope the next two months — the last ten games — we can prove that on the pitch and not just talking. This season we have been inconsistent. We have dropped important points at home and this has made the difference to keep us off the top of the table.

“But with our best form maybe we can be back at the top soon.”

He added: “Leicester are in good shape. They have been one of the most consistent teams in the league. They are playing very well and if they win the league they will deserve it because they will have shown the best qualities. But things can change.

“To play as the favourites is a lot of pressure. It is not easy to be top of the table and to win all those games.

“This can be an advantage for us but our target is to keep playing, to get better and to try to do our best.”

Warning against writing City off, Fernandinho said: “This would be a mistake. We have great players and a great manager and we’re going to put our efforts into the games we have left.

“We want to start with the next game against Norwich and then the derby. We want to gain confidence and when players return from injury they will make our squad even stronger. After that we will see what happens.”

Pell added: “The next four games will be very important to try to reduce the gap. We need to win at least nine of our remaining games.”
