It is the prayer of every parent for their children to bury them, it therefore becomes a painful thing when a parent has to bury a child; not just a child, an only child. Tragedy struck at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Tuesday when a final year student of the institution died in a private hospital.
Mr. Ojo Dolapo who is an only child, died at Shalom Hospital, Ogbomoso Oyo State just a day to his final year defense which was supposed to be today.
The University authority as well as staff and classmates of the deceased sent their commiseration to his mother, praying for God to comfort her at a time like this.
In the same vein, another student of LAUTECH, Fatai Morenikeji had slumped and died while playing football within the school premises.
In that instance too, students had gathered in front of the senate building of the University where the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adeniyi Gbadegesin had commiserated with the students and ordered an investigation into the incident while also commiserating with the parents of the deceased.
The Vice chancellor of LAUTECH had inaugurated an investigative panel to probe issues surrounding the death of the student in order to prevent a future occurrence of another student dying untimely in the institution; the panel was given 72 hours to submit its report to the university authorities.

Reacting to the incident, the Director of Medical Services LAUTECH, Dr. Caleb Adegbosin, informed authorities that the deceased was rushed to the university’s clinic before being certified clinically dead after all efforts to save his life failed.
The Vice-Chancellor therefore declared a three-day mourning period, even as he assured the students that their welfare, including medical care, would continue to be given topmost priority attention by the University authority at all times.
May the soul of the deceased students rest in peace and may God comfort their family and loved ones and give them the strength to bear this loss.
