The recent Lassa Fever outbreak in Ondo State has resulted in the death of 16 people. This was disclosed by the state’s Chief Epidemiologist, Dr Steven Fagbemi, on Tuesday at a briefing held at the governor’s office in the Government House Akure, according to Channels TV.
Speaking to the governor of the state, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the local government chairmen from Ondo North and Central senatorial districts, Dr Fagbemi also disclosed that 84 cases in total have been recorded in the state since January 1, 2020.

Adding that 47 patients are currently on admission and responding to treatment, while 21 patients already treated and discharged.
Dr Fagbemi further said that the 16 patients who died were because their health crisis levelled up to an advanced stage before they were taken to the hospital.
The affected areas, according to the report by Channels TV, are Owo, Akoko South-West, Akure South, and Ondo West Local Government Areas of Ondo State.
