LASEMA closes third mainland bridge, removes truck that fell into lagoon

2 Min Read

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) recovered a waste truck that had fallen into the lagoon at third mainland bridge a few days ago on Sunday.

“The Lagos State Emergency Service is conducting a recovery operation to remove a PSP Truck that fell into the water on the 3rd Mainland Bridge (inward Oworo) around the UNILAG Axis,” Jubril Gawat, Governor Babajide Sanwo-media Olu’s aide, tweeted earlier during the recovery.

“For the time being, traffic has been diverted. Please divert to Adekunle if you are traveling from the island to Oworo.”

“LASEMA successfully recovered,” he later tweeted. “Vehicle successfully placed on flatbed vehicle…. “The operation is complete.”

LASEMA had previously announced a lane closure on the Third Mainland Bridge for “Operation Shark.”

“LASEMA will begin the retrieval of a PSP TRUCK that plunged into the Lagos Lagoon inward Iyana-Oworo on Tuesday, TODAY Sunday 23rd October at 2 p.m.,” said LASEMA’s permanent secretary, Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, in a statement.

“The Agency has made arrangements for the retrieval using heavy-duty equipment.” The general public should be aware that a partial lane closure will be in effect on the Island-bound side of the THIRD MAINLAND BRIDGE from 2 p.m. until the operation is completed.

“Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes whenever possible.” All stakeholders, including LASTMA for traffic control, will be on standby to ensure the process runs smoothly and safely.”
