The Commissioner of Health in Lagos State, Prof Akinola Abayomi, has said that the state recorded no new case of coronavirus in 24 hours.
The Commissioner who disclosed this on his official Twitter handle, stated that no new case of coronavirus was recorded on Monday, April 20.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had confirmed 38 new COVID-19 cases in six states except Lagos.
However, two COVID-19 deaths were recorded on Monday, bringing the total fatalities to 16 in the state.
Abayomi said:
“No new case of COVID-19 was confirmed in Lagos on 20th April, 2020.”
“However, COVID-19 related deaths were recorded in Lagos. One of the deceased was a 45 years old Nigerian; male who returned from India in January, 2020.
“The second death involved a 36 year old Nigerian; female with severe underlying health condition. She had no history of travel or contact with any COVID-19 confirmed case.
“Total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Lagos now stands at 16.
“I urge you all to remain vigilant and report any concern about COVID-19 infection in our communities.”
