A 40-year-old trader, Honesty Oyekachi, on Wednesday appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding a church co-operative of N300,000.

Oyekachi, who resides at No. 64, Surulere St., Dopemu, Agege in Lagos, is charged with two counts of fraud and theft.

The Prosecution Counsel, Sgt. Samuel Mishozumu, told the court that Oyekachi, committed the offence on Oct. 25, 2018, at No. 1-7, Revival Close, Off Coca-Cola Industrial Road, Off Akilo Road, Ogba in Lagos.

Mishomuzu alleged that the defendant obtained N300,000 from Revival Assembly Church Co-operative society, under the pretext of paying back in three months time.

He alleged that Oyekachi, refused to pay back the money as promised.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate O.D. Njoku, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Njoku ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed, and must show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case until July 26, for mention. (NAN)
