Personnel of the task force on duty

A day after the Lagos Task Force seized more than 70 commercial motorcycles (okada) from riders in Second Rainbow and other areas of Amumo-Odofin local government, a similar attempt in the Ikeja along area of the state was rebuffed by riders.

Video footage of the clash between the government officials and scores of riders showed the former running as they are chased by the latter uttering expletives.

The Lagos Task Force personnel can be seen jumping into their operational vehicles that zoomed off immediately to avoid being attacked by the irate riders.

Recall that a clash broke out between the Lagos Task Force personnel and the riders on Tuesday in the Second Rainbow area.

The government officials had seized their bikes for various traffic violations, including riding on the highway.

However, the furious riders confronted the task force personnel, blocking the road, making bonfires and chanting anti-government songs.

Speaking on yesterday’s incident, Head, Public Affairs Unit of the Lagos State Task Force, Adebayo Taofiq said that its personnel visited the area for enforcement following “complaints from the public about activities of Okada riders using their bikes to rob them of their valuables and plying restricted routes”.
