The Lagos State Government says it could order the shutting of schools in the state as EndSARS protests linger.
A state government official, Kayode Abayomi, said that only Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s directive was being awaited.
Abayomi, who is the Head of Public Affairs, Lagos State Ministry of Education, said that the school closure would help in securing the lives of the students.
Academic activities in some schools in the state were reportedly halted in response to the lingering protests.
“We are considering the option of asking the students to stay at home, for now, pending when the protests will be over.
“It is at the consideration level. We are waiting for the governor’s directive in that aspect.
“As soon as we get the directive to go ahead, we (can) then ask them to stay at home for now,” The Punch quoted him to have said.
The Lagos State Government approved all public and private schools to resume academic activities today.
However, some students reportedly experienced trouble getting to school as many roads were blocked due to the protests.
