The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Zubairu Muazu, has identified the men of the Special Anti-Cultism Squad (SACS) that shot Kolade Johnson dead at a football viewing centre on Sunday.
Johnson, 36, was struck by a stray bullet while watching the Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur game and was confirmed dead on arrival at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.
The commissioner named the officers involved in the killing while paying a condolence visit to the home of the deceased at No. 1 Beco Street in the Onipetesi area of the state on Tuesday.
Muazu, who was accompanied by senior officials of the command, identified the officers as Inspector Ogunyemi Olalekan and Sergeant Godwin Orji.
He said that the police would ensure that justice was done in the matter, and confirmed an earlier police statement that the officers involved had been taken into custody.
The commissioner prayed for the repose of the victim’s soul and fortitude to enable the family bear the “irreparable loss”.
In some photos of the visit shared by the Nigeria Police Force, Muazu could be seen kneeling to console a woman that appeared to be the victim’s mother.

In his reaction, the Head of Kolade Johnson’s family expressed his gratitude to the CP for honoring the family with his presence and his resolve in ensuring that justice prevails in the case.
He commended the CP for the bold steps taken in exposing those behind the shootings.
He added that “I thought it is going to be a one man’s fight but seeing the Police high Command joining our family in this fight has shown that Justice will not only be done to Kolade but to the entire Nigerian youths.”

He described his late son as a peace loving person and called on well wishers to remain calm and allow the law to take its cause.
