Security operatives from Lagos have captured a 34-year-old man identified as the high priest of the dreaded Badoo cult group that has kept residents of Ikorodu in fear for months.
The team led by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, comprised operatives of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos Vigilance group, and the Lagos Task Force.
According to The Nation, the suspect, Fatai Adebayo, was captured in his shrine on 38, Ayegbami Quarters in Imosan, Odogbolu Local Government Area, Ogun State.
Items recovered from the shrine included “fetish accessories” like figurines, rocks, bottles of mixture, cowry-embedded apron, pictures of white men and women, black pots, goats, chickens, and others.
The suspect, who had been identified by many Badoo cult members as their spiritual father, lived on the property with his mother and wife.
The police boss said, “Over the weekend, we had far-reaching achievements in the fight against these killers in Ikorodu, otherwise called Badoo. Their kingpin has been arrested as he tried to escape on water.
“One of the suspects confessed that before they go for any killing, the head of the group brings to them a man to perform oath-taking and the piece of stone they use in killing their victims. He is an accomplice and we are definitely placing him on arrest.”
The suspect’s shrine was also demolished after permission was obtained from the village head of Imosan village, where the shrine was located.
However, the suspect’s mother, Tosin Ogunyemi denied allegations that her son aided the Badoo cult, saying he is a herbalist that only produced healing potions
