Lagos state has made a move that will ban religious worship centres such as churches and mosques from conducting services and Friday Juma’at prayers in an attempt to curb the spread of COVID-19 Pandemic.
This is coming after House of Reps announced the ban of all forms of religious gatherings and visitors to the National Assembly.
Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos state commissioner for Information made this known in a press briefing as he stated the new development is in the best interest of the citizenry.
“We are all aware that the Federal Government asked the National Youth Service Corps to shut down orientation camps; yesterday (Tuesday) the Commissioner for Home Affairs said there will be a meeting with religious leaders today (Wednesday).
“It is going to be suggested to them to maybe stop Friday and Sunday services – wherever we have large gatherings.
“Going by the new development, I am sure they will be advised to shut down the services in the interest of the public and all of us. I am sure they are going to comply”
Meanwhile, fresh reports have emerged stating the Federal Government may have slashed the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly called petrol TO N130 per litre from N145 after the COVID-19 pandemic caused a huge fall in oil price on the global market.
