Lady sent to jail one month to her wedding for stealing from fiance’s sister

The marrige between two lovers Chima Madueke and fiancee Chioma Christopher has been cancelled after Chioma allegedly stole $1600 from her prospective in-law’s house.

The incident which happened at Ben Bright Street in Ago Okota, was reported to the police aafter the lady confessed to the crime.

According to reports, the man sent his fiancee to his elder sister’s house to finalize plans for their traditional and white wedding.

When Chioma got to the house, she was given free access to enter into their rooms including their bedroom.

Rachel was said to have sent Chioma to their bedroom fridge for her to bring out the meat which they will use to cook. When she got there, she allegedly stole the money that the lady’s husband had kept and went away.

However, the theft was exposed when she went to change the money at a local bureau de change in the street. She was shortchanged and given fake money which resulted in an altercation between her and the operator of the local bureau de change.

When Rachel’s husband later returned from work and looked for the money, he did not find it. He asked around and Chioma then confessed taking it, claiming that she did not know what came over her to steal the money.

She was handed over to the police at Ago Division and she was charged before Isolo Magistrates court for stealing and pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Adedayo granted her bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
