La Liga Chief reveals Messi to Chelsea fears

2 Min Read

Javier Tebas the head of Liga de Fútbol Profesional or the La Liga as we all know it has revealed fears over Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.

Tebas revealed that due to the current prosecution of Messi could lead him to leave the la Liga and move to the English Premiership with Chelsea who are understood to be huge admirers.

Messi was sentenced to 21 months in prison, a term he’s unlikely to serve due to the nature of the time frame as Spanish laws give allowance for jail terms of less than two years to be served under probation.

But still it has been reported that Chelsea are in talks with Messi’s father on a possible move.

Tebas said to a press conference  “Of course I fear that [Messi] could leave. “The only thing I can tell him is that from La Liga we believe he isn’t guilty and we are happy to have him here.

“I don’t think he is a criminal – I don’t believe he knew anything. “I think the Supreme Court will overturn the sentence. He was sucked in by a risky fiscal program that has brought these consequences. “But you cannot forget that he has contributed over £135million to the Spanish state. That money has built motorways and hospitals. “There is no prejudice or personal attack against Messi or against Barcelona. The world of sport is under investigation.”
