La Liga President, Javier Tebas has downplayed Cristiano Ronaldo’s statement that he could consider a move away from Real Madrid.
Ronaldo said this after Madrid’s third straight UCL win in Kiev on Saturday.
Responding, Tebas said, “Well, I think it’s nothing more than another chapter.
“I’ve heard so many times that he wants to go, that he’s staying, that they’re negotiating… He’ll be playing for Real Madrid next year, I think.
“Cristiano Ronaldo leaving, five years ago, would have worried me much more. Not now, because we have worked on the [LaLiga] brand.
“Now I can’t even remember when the last time a Premier League player won the Ballon d’Or and they are on top, why can’t we do the same?
“Cristiano is irreplaceable. With Neymar, LaLiga would win whether Cristiano is here too, he’s a standard bearer for LaLiga.”
