The Elders Forum of Peoples Democratic Party, Kwara State Chapter has warned the national leadership of the party against imposition of governorship candidate in the state.
The elders spoke during a press briefing in Ilorin yesterday in reaction to the annulled PDP Primary election in the state.
Deputy Chairman of the Elders Forum, Alhaji Ayinla Folorunsho said “In the interest of orderliness and security, only authenticated delegates and authorised officials should be accredited and voting at the governorship primary should be done in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
“The massive turnout of party members and the enthusiasm of the general public during the primary bear testimony to the fact that the PDP is the party to beat in Kwara State come 2015.
“The elders of the party along with the generality of the members are determined to leave no stone unturned towards the realisation of this goal and are confident that by God’s grace, with the cooperation and support of the national leadership of the party, victory will be ours.”
He also said that a level playing field for all aspirants in the state will ensure PDP’s victory in the coming elections.
The gubernatorial primaries in Kwara state was postponed on Monday when aspirants engaged in physical combat. 12 out of the 13 aspirants had reportedly raised suspicion that the leadership of the party was preparing to favour one of the aspirants.
