The Kwara State Commissioner for Commerce and Cooperative, Alhaji Raji Mohammed, yesterday sealed six filling stations in different parts of the state for selling petrol above the official pump price.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the commissioner ordered the closure when he paid an assessment visit to some filling stations in the state.
Mohammed made bold to say that the state government would not pardon acts of extortion of money from its citizens, hence the closure was necessary.
The commissioner, who was accompanied by some officials of the Federal Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the state branch of the NLC, expressed displeasure with the attitude of the owners of the stations of cheating innocent citizens.
The stations are Alelagba Filling station in Oro and Odulade Petroleum and Musad filling stations, both in Idofian.
The others are Goodness and Mercy filling stations, both in Omupo and Supermoon filling station in Olulande.
He however guaranteed the people that monitoring of activities in filling stations would be a continuous exercise to ensure compliance with government policies and standards.
Mohammed added that henceforth, they would always get value for their money on any product they choose.
