The Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has praised President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, crediting them with accelerating development at the state level.
AbdulRazaq made the remarks during a New Year homage paid to President Tinubu at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos. The visit was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima and other members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.
The governor noted that structural adjustments introduced by Tinubu’s administration have led to increased funding for states, allowing for more impactful projects.
“I will confess that I have not done two years in this administration, yet I have achieved more projects in this short period compared to the four years of my first term. This is due to the structural adjustment programs you are implementing. Despite inflation, the increased funding we receive enables us to deliver more,” AbdulRazaq stated.
He expressed confidence that Tinubu would witness the transformation occurring at the state level during his visits in the new year.
Highlighting progress in agriculture, AbdulRazaq cited a bumper harvest in Jigawa State as evidence of the administration’s effective policies. However, he noted that the strength of the naira has encouraged exports of agricultural produce.
“To counter this, many states are now stockpiling surplus harvests in silos for future use, ensuring food security not just for Nigeria but for the entire West African region,” he said.
The governor also commended improvements in security under Tinubu’s leadership, affirming that states would continue to contribute to local security measures to enhance safety nationwide.
AbdulRazaq reaffirmed the governors’ commitment to supporting Tinubu’s efforts in addressing security challenges and driving economic growth, stating, “We are united in our goal to see Nigeria prosper.”
