Former Kano State Governor, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso boycotted the National Convention of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) but visited former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in his Asokoro, Abuja residence on Saturday night.
Atiku, who has signified interest to contest for the presidency in 2019, is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
However, Kwankwaso (APC – Kano Central) was not the only high-profile member to boycott the convention; his fellow senator Dino Melaye (APC – Kogi West) also boycotted and called the convention a “joke”.
After meeting Atiku around 8.30pm, both men went into a closed-door meeting that lasted 45 minutes.
Although the details of the discussion were not made public, it is believed to be connected to the 2019 general election.
