Kogi youths seek Dino Melaye’s suspension

2 Min Read

A group of protesters under the aegis of Kogi Youths for Good Governance, has called for the suspension of Sen. Dino Melaye (APC-Kogi) from the senate over alleged misconduct against Sen. Oluremi Tinubu .

The Coordinator of the group, Mr Leke Richard, made the call on Thursday in Abuja during a peaceful protest to the National Assembly complex.

He said that the group’s demand was sequel to Dino’s records of misconduct at the National Assembly.

He said that the senator’s series of misconduct at the National Assembly was not in line with what he was elected for.

“Such misconduct from Dino has not only brought disgrace to his constituents, but to the National Assembly.

“Enough of this national and global embarrassment from this lawmaker who does not know how to fight for the interest of his constituents that elected him but against his fellow lawmakers.

“We want him to be suspended first while we fast track the process of his recall from his senatorial district,’’ Richard said.

Richard added that the agitation against Dino as a legislator would subsist until the senate takes appropriate sanction against him.

Mr Dennis Maji, from the office of the Sergeant-At-Arms at the National Assembly, who received the protest letter from the group, commended the peaceful manner the protesters conducted themselves.

He promised to expeditiously handover the letter to the appropriate authority in the National Assembly.

NAN recalled that Dino was alleged to have threatened to beat Sen. Oluremi Tinubu during a closed-door session of the senate. (NAN)
