Kogi Govt to Construct 500 Units Housing Estate

Kogi State government said on Tuesday that arrangements are on top gear to build a new housing estate at Lokoja, the state capital.

The Director-General, Kogi State Bureau of Lands and Urban Development , Mr Nazir Yusuf Ochi disclosed this in Lokoja while on inspection visit to the site of the proposed housing project.

He said that the move was borne out of government’s commitment to provide decent accommodation for the people.

According to him, the estate will comprise 500 units of three- bedroom and two-bedroom flats to be located after Imeme bridge along Lokoja – Ajaokuta road.

Yusuf who was on the visit in company with Mr Abubakar Ohere and Mr Asiru Idris, the state’s Commissioners for works and finance respectively, said that work will start on the project very soon.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for works and housing, Mr Abubakar Ohere said that the proposed housing estate will have modern facilities, including good network of access roads

He commended Gov. Yahaya Bello for initiating the project and charged representatives of communities where the project will be sited to show understanding and give full support.

” The project is for the benefit of Kogi State people . It will enhance the development of the area and address the housing deficit currently being experienced in the state,” Ohere said.
