Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada has said that the emergence of Engineer Sam Ohuetu as the new state chairman of the PDP is part of the efforts to strengthen the party to meet current challenges and retain the state.
Wada said this during the swearing-in- of the new PDP state Executive members, he said “The party executives are eager to show what they can contribute to the party. We are very happy that the Ward congress went peacefully and rancor-free as no single person wrote a petition against the congress. There was a level playing field for everybody.
“We have to reinvigorate and strengthen the party to meet the current challenges. You can’t enter a governorship election without putting in place the executive council members. With the successful election of the executive officers of the party we are determined to retain the state.
“The new leadership is hungry to make a mark and to put their footprints on the sand of history, and there is a renew spirit among the members who have put behind them the incidence of presidential and National Assembly elections.”
On whether he intends to run again, he said “We are a law abiding party. The INEC which is the election umpire has not blown the lid. We don’t want to run foul of the law. Any moment the INEC releases the campaign time table we shall make our stand known.”
