More twist has been added to the already tensed Kogi election processes with the running mate to the late Prince Abubakar Audu in the November 21 governorship election in Kogi State, Mr James Faleke, has vowed to reclaim the mandate of the people of the state, given freely to the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the election.
Speaking at the GRA, Lokoja residence of the deceased APC governorship candidate in the November 21 election, Faleke who declared his decision to pick the late Audu’s son as his running mate, said he carries the moral burden to defend Audu’s mandate as it robbed off on him.
He said, he will, alongside the first son of the late Audu, Muhammed, will do all they can to ensure that they stop at nothing to reclaim the mandate that, ‘INEC ‘momentarily truncated by declaring the election inconclusive.’
While addressing APC supporters in Lokoja on Monday, Faleke explained that there was no division between him and the immediate political family of late Abubakar Audu, stressing that it was a moral burden on him to fight on until the victory of APC is accomplished.
He went on to announce his decision to pick the son of late Abubakar Audu, Mohammed Audu as his running mate.
Faleke pointed out that the reactionaries who pounced on the death of late Abubakar Audu, had made fruitless attempts at truncating the process that ordinarily should have led to the smooth transition of power from the PDP in Kogi State, to a new path of rescuing the state.
Going back to the primary election conducted on August 28, 2015, he noted that he remained the only person holding on to the votes cast for the APC, adding that the party had requested him to nominate a deputy in accordance with the constitutional provision.
Some APC leaders from the three senatorial districts of the state were present as Mr Faleke made his decision known to his supporters.
