American reality TV show actress, Kim Kardashian West has been served with a $100 million lawsuit over the phone case used in her selfie.
According to report, the reality TV show actress and mother of two was dragged to court by a man named Hooshmand Harooni who accused her of using the LuMee phone case in her selfie.
According to court papers, the aggrieved man stated that LuMee, the makers of the illuminated cell phone case which the reality TV actress endorses stole the idea of the case from him.
Harooni who sued Kim K’s company, Kimisaprincess Inc., further added that he had earlier patented the “Integrated Lighting Accessory and Case for a Mobile Phone Device” back in April 2013 but had suffered massive loss and dip in profit after Kim Kardashian endorsed LuMee.
He stated in the papers that “despite having superior, patented products, it has been extremely difficult for Snaplight to compete in the selfie case market against Ms. West’s product influence and Defendants’ ongoing infringement.”
Harooni also added Urban Outfitters to the list of respondents on his $100 million lawsuit.
He accused Urban Outfitters of distributing LuMee.
Speaking on behalf of his client, the legal counsel to the defendant stated that “Snaplight and Mr. Harooni have suffered financially as a result.”
Entertainment Today reported that the Kardashians have however described the latest lawsuit as an attempt at a shakedown.
The statement released by the Kardashians stated: “the patent lawsuit filed by Snaplight has no merit and is just another attempted shakedown.”
