Kidnapped 25-year-old Ejire Lale, the second son of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Ndowa Lale, has been released on Wednesday.
Ejire Lale was kidnapped on Monday while supervising his fish pond in Agbeta Ebubu, Eleme Local Government Area of River state by gun-wielding men.
According to Spokesman of the University of Port Harcourt, Dr. William Wordi, Ejire was released to his family on Wednesday evening.
Wordi said Ejire was brutalised by his captors, but the university community was happy that he survived the ordeal.
It is not yet clear if any ransom was paid to secure his release.
It will be recalled that on August 30, a Vanguard newspaper columnist, Donu Kogbara, was equally kidnapped in Rivers state and released 13 days after, on September 12.
In the same vein, Toyin, the wife of the Deputy Managing Director of The SUN newspaper, Mr Steve Nwosu was kidnapped on Monday and released on Thursday morning.
