Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo says popular social media platform, Twitter has agreed to abide by all conditions set by the Federal Government.
Recall that the Muhammadu Buhari administration indefinitely suspended Twitter’s operations in Nigeria in June.
The government cited the reason for its action as “persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.”
FG subsequently set up a committee that came up with conditions that must be met before Twitter could resume operations in Nigeria.
Speaking on Channels Television on Monday, Keyamo, who is a member of that committee, disclosed that Twitter reached out to FG with a view to lifting the suspension.
“It was Twitter that reached out to the federal government to say they want to know what and what they can do to straighten up the relationship with the federal government and so, we have gone far but I may not, at this forum, let out a lot but we gave them a lot of conditions and they have agreed to all the conditions,” Keyamo said.
He added that a technical committee had been set up to monitor Twitter’s compliance with the conditions.
According to him, President Buhari ordered Twitter’s suspension
