The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo SAN has congratulated veteran singer, Daddy Showkey on his 50th birthday.
In a video shared on Twitter on Tuesday, the minister congratulated the artiste on hitting the golden age of 50.
He says, “Hi, Daddy Showkey. I can’t believe you’re 50 years old.
“Na only small I take senior you o, only few months.”
The minister further reveals that he bagged a chieftaincy title from a community in Delta State at the same time as the veteran musician.
“Daddy Showkey came at the time that the Nigerian music scene needed a breath of fresh air from the traditional reggae sound that was imported into the country at that time.
“Daddy Showkey provided that and it sent everybody wild at that time.
“He came with the Nigerian sound, rhythm and dance.”
Keyamo recalls how the galala dance popularised by the musician became popular among both the young and old in the ’90s.
“I enjoyed it thoroughly,” the minister adds.
“Daddy Showkey, you’ve come a long way, you are a legend, and you continue to remain a legend.”
He states that the musician has a long way to go.
“May the lives continue to fall for you in pleasant places,” Keyamo says.
