Out-of-contract Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has replied critics who all clamoured that his style and tactics of selection is biased, sentimental and based on a ‘closed circuit’.
Keshi argued that he’s open to inviting ‘fresh faces,’ if he sees them.
Of recent, Ex Super Eagles players have called on the attention of the former Hawks of Togo Coach to include Man City starlet Kelechi Iheanacho, and the Uche brothers amongst others in his squad, but Keshi turned deaf ears to their request.
He said: ”If I see fresh faces that are good and can bring something tangible to the team, why not, I will invite them.”
“It’s their country, they are entitled to play for Nigeria, so why not. If I see and they are willing to play for Nigeria, why not, I will,” he said on Brila 88.9 FM.
Following Eagles shocking 3 – 2 defeat to Congo, former Nigeria midfielder, Garba Lawal criticised Keshi’s management style, “It is obvious that we need fresh players in the team because whatever the coach is doing is not going right at the moment,” the former Roda star told Lagos sports radio Brila FM on Thursday.
“As a coach you need to change, a positive change. But he (Keshi) keeps insisting but for how long”.
AFCON 2015 qualifiers continues; Nigeria will travel to play Sudan on October 10, before hosting the return leg four days later.
Keshi’s list of the invited players for the double header is set to surface any moment soon.
