Keshi Is A Failure – Akpoborie

2 Min Read

Ex-international, Jonathan Akpoborie has said that Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi is not good enough for the senior national team after he failed to qualify Nigeria for the 2015 African Cup of Nations billed to hold in Equatorial Guinea this month.

The former Wolfsburg FC of Germany striker said he has never believed in the technical ability of the soccer tactician dubbed Big Boss since he took over the Super Eagles from Coach Samson Siasia and his failure to qualify Nigeria for the 2015 edition of the African showpiece is a clear evidence that he is not the type of coach Nigeria need for the team.

“Keshi is not the type of coach we need to manage a big team like the Super Eagles, he is just not good enough and if you go back to all the matches he handled with the team, you will discover that there were lots of technical lapses but the team were just lucky in some of the matches”, says the former Super Eagles striker.

“For a coach who has been in the team for more than two years and nothing has changed, I don’t think such a coach is good enough for the team. I have always said that Nigeria can rule Africa again but we need a coach that will be good enough and not just winning but somebody that will bring development to our football.

Akpoborie however called on the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF to go for a quality foreign coach that can manage the team and at the same time develop Nigerian football.

“I have always believed that we need a foreign technical manager to coach the Super Eagles but there are procedures the FA must follow to make sure they get a quality one, they must also work with the technical department who will identify the areas that are lacking in our football and also work with the technical man,” he concludes.
